Six years into construction, bridge in East Nawalparasi struggling for completion

Parasi– A bridge at Sarawal Rural Municipality in East Nawalparasi has not completed even after six years of construction. Only four pillars have been erected for the project. As a result, the locals especially of the wards 6 and 7 who frequently use the route are forced to risk their lives crossing the local river without a bridge. During monsoon, their hardship gets worse.

So much so two were swept away in the course of crossing the river earlier. Negligence on the part of the contractor is blamed for the delay. "The contractor has left the project midway. We are taking initiatives in resuming it," said Hyat Khan, chairperson of ward 7. The project cost is estimated to be over Rs 36 million.
