Medal winning national hockey team receives felicitations

Bhimdattanagar–The national hockey team which has returned home with a bronze medal in the International Hockey Tournament was offered warm felicitations in Bhimduttangar, Kanchanpur. 

The District Sports Development Committee and the District Hockey Association honoured the team amidst a ceremony here Tuesday. The team created a history by winning the bronze recently in Lahore of Pakistan. It beat Afghanistan 4-0, said team coach Ranjan Thapa, adding that the team gave its best in the match.

The team arrived here in course of its journey back home. Uzbekistan clinched the title of the tournament participated by five nations. Eight players in the 18-member team are from Bhimdattanagar, Kanchanpur's hockey coach Nar Bahadur Chand said. "The achievement is historic for Nepal," he said.
