Bhaktapur – Two persons were killed when three vehicles collided near SAARC TB and HIV/AIDS Centre in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality along the Araniko Highway last night.
The deceased have been identified as driver of a mini-truck (Ba 2 Kha 1654) Rajendra Shrestha, 34, and helper of the same vehicle 28-year-old Tarjan Shrestha of Banepa Municipality-4. The two breathed their last while receiving treatment at the Tribhuvan University (TU) after the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rewati Raman Pokharel said.
Police said that the accident occurred when the city bus (Ba 5 Kha 3765) hit the stationed mini truck (Ba 2 Kha 1654) from its back forcing it to collide with another vehicle (Ba 2 Ka 3935) by severely injuring the two as Rajendra and Tarjan were trapped. Police have impounded all three vehicles and held mini-bus driver Suresh Sapkota of Panauti, Kavre for further investigations.
Meanwhile, an elderly died after a water ferrying tanker hit him in Madhaypur Thimi Municipality-3 this morning. Seriously injured in the incident, Netra Prasad Parajuli, 78, of Tehrathum district died while receiving treatment, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi Milan KC. The driver of the vehicle (Ba 4 Kha 4214) has fled the scene after the incident, police added.
