Two swept away by rivulets in Chitwan
Chitwan - Two persons died after being swept away by different rivulets in Chitwan district.
Chief of District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Deepak Thapa said that Saman Bahadur Praja, 22, who had gone missing after Korak the rivulet at Ichchhakamana rural municipality-3 swept him away on Saturday evening, was found dead this morning.
Similarly, initiative was underway to bring a body of an unidentified woman of around 40 years, swept away by Pampha rivulet at Rapti municipality-8, out of the rivulet, said Thapa.
A meeting of chiefs of security bodies and representatives of political parties held today under the chairmanship of mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Renu Dahal, formed three groups and decided to carry out monitoring immediately about the situation of the district.
A team under the leadership of Mayor Dahal would carry out monitoring of western Chitwan while a team under the leadership of Local Development Officer Krishna Prasad Subedi at eastern Chitwan.
Similarly, a team headed by Chief of District Public Health Office, Bijay Kumar Jha, would carry out monitoring of Sauraha area.
On the occasion, Mayor Dahal directed the chiefs of security bodies to be involved in rescue of flood affected and relief to victims. She also urged the representatives of political parties to help them in the task.
Normal life has been affected after flood water from the Rapti, Budirapti, Reu, Lothar and Kayar rivulets entered the human settlements.
