Mechi Customs Office Collects NPR 17.67 Billion Revenue in FY 2082-83

Jhapa. Eastern Nepal's major trade point Mechi Customs Office Kakarbhitta has collected revenue of NPR 17 billion 67 crore 72 lakh 11 thousand in the last fiscal year 2082-83. This is NPR 1 billion 74 crore 60 lakh 45 thousand more than the previous fiscal year 2081-82. With this, the office's revenue collection has seen an increase of about 11 percent.

However, despite the increase in revenue collection, the office could not meet its annual target. The office was given a target of collecting NPR 18 billion 87 crore 74 lakh 83 thousand revenue for the fiscal year 2082-83. But the office has achieved about 93 percent of its target, informed the Mechi Customs Office.

Previously, in the fiscal year 2081-82, Mechi Customs Office had collected revenue of NPR 15 billion 93 crore 11 lakh 66 thousand. Compared to that, revenue collection has increased significantly in the last fiscal year.

Mechi Customs Office is one of the major import-export points in Eastern Nepal. Agricultural products such as tea, cardamom, ginger, broom grass, and churpi produced in Eastern Nepal are exported through this point. Similarly, petroleum products, clothing, chemical substances, and various industrial materials are imported.
