Educational Consultancy Businesses Protest New Regulations

Kathmandu. The United Struggle Committee of Educational Consultancy Businesses has started protests today against the new regulations brought by the government.

In protest of the government's new 'Educational Consultancy, Language Teaching and Preparation Class (Operation and Management) Regulations, 2083', the businesspersons held placards at Putalisadak Chowk in Kathmandu.

The businesspersons have warned of escalating the protest if the new rules are not abolished or amended. The Struggle Committee has decided that if the problem is not resolved through protests, all consultancy businesspersons across the country will submit the keys of their offices to the District Administration Office and launch an indefinite protest.

The new regulations implemented by the government include provisions such as consultancies having to renew their permits every year and classifying educational fairs. The Struggle Committee claims that these provisions are not business-friendly and are very impractical.

The Struggle Committee has demanded immediate amendment of some points in the new regulations, expressing disagreement. They have primarily demanded amendments from the government on points related to the duration and renewal process of institutional registration and permits, classification and criteria for educational fairs, benefits received from foreign educational institutions, format for tax and income-expenditure statements, provisions related to compensation, and institutional classification.

The businesspersons have adopted a strategy to pressure the government to address their demands by creating pressure through street protests. They have warned of shutting down the educational consultancy sector if their demands are not heard in time.
