Truck Driver Injured as Floodwaters Sweep Vehicle in Hetauda

Hetauda. A truck driver has been injured when the Karra River swept away a truck in Hetauda, Makwanpur. 

The truck was swept away by the flood in the Karra River near Shivam Cement Factory at Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-17, Hatiya on Sunday morning. 

The driver, Deepak Thing, approximately 34 years old, a resident of Ratnanagar Municipality-13, Chitwan, who was swept away with the truck, safely emerged by swimming, the District Police Office informed. 

According to Madhav Kafle, District Police Office Makwanpur spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police, the river flowed over a culvert (latchka) made with hume pipes due to the flood in the Karra River around 7:45 AM. He stated that as the water flow increased, the 12-wheel Eicher truck, number Na 7 Kha 765, which was returning after unloading stones at the cement factory, was swept away along with the driver.
The driver sustained minor injuries to his leg and is currently undergoing treatment, informed spokesperson Kafle. The truck swept away by the flood is still in the river and efforts are underway to retrieve it.
