Minister Sita Kumari Waati Reports 38,938 Houses Completed Under Janata Awas Program

Kathmandu. Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Social Security Sita Waati has informed that a total of 38,938 houses have been constructed and handed over under the Janata Awas Program targeted at disadvantaged communities.  

Clarifying in the National Assembly meeting on Friday, she stated that 8,359 houses are currently under construction. According to her, a total of 55,970 houses have been approved under the Janata Awas Program.

According to Minister Waati, 17,039 houses have been constructed by the federal government out of the approved houses, while the number of houses handed over to the provinces in the fiscal year 2075/76 is 38,931. The progress of this program varies in different provinces of the country. In Koshi Province, 5,416 houses have been handed over, while 657 are under construction. In Madhesh Province, 15,534 houses are under construction while 5,248 houses are under construction. Similarly, in Bagmati Province, 2,076 houses have been handed over and 147 are under construction.

In Gandaki Province, 2,021 houses have been handed over and 159 are under construction. In Lumbini Province, 6,522 houses have been handed over while 5,037 houses are under construction. In Karnali Province, 4,344 houses have been handed over, while 1,134 houses are in the construction phase. Minister Waati informed that 3,018 houses have already been handed over in Sudurpashchim Province, and 468 houses are under construction.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Waati said, 'The total number of houses approved so far through the Janata Awas Program is 55,970, and the number of houses constructed by the federal government is 17,039.' She added, 'The number of houses handed over to the provinces in the fiscal year 2075/76 is 38,931.'

Providing a provincial breakdown, she said, 'In Koshi, 5,416 houses have been handed over and 657 are under construction, while in Madhesh, 15,534 have been handed over and 5,248 are under construction.'

Regarding Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, she said, 'In Bagmati, 2,076 have been handed over and 147 are under construction. In Gandaki, 2,021 have been handed over and 159 are under construction, while in Lumbini, 6,522 have been handed over and 5,037 are under construction.' Clarifying about Karnali and Sudurpashchim, she said, 'In Karnali, 4,344 have been handed over and 1,134 are under construction, while in Sudurpashchim, 3,018 houses have been handed over and 468 houses are under construction.'

She also mentioned that the total number of houses handed over across the country is 38,938 and the number of houses under construction is 8,350. She informed the parliament that a total of 38,938 houses have been completed and handed over across the country, and 8,359 houses are in the construction phase.
