CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahar Calls Nepali's Self-Immolation 'State-Sponsored Murder'

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar has termed the death of 25-year-old Ganesh Nepali of Mugu, who self-immolated in front of the Department of Passports, as 'state-sponsored murder'. Mahar also chanted slogans against the government in the House of Representatives meeting on Friday. MP Mahar accused the current government of being more inclined to kill the public than to save them. 

Commenting on the working style of the Home Minister and the government, Mahar accused the government of being solely focused on stunts. 'The government must stop its habit of stunts. The state has pushed citizens to the point of self-immolation,' Mahar said. 'Whether it is the landless or Ganesh Nepali, the state is forcibly pushing citizens towards death. The current leadership must take responsibility for this.' 

MP Mahar recalled the history of Yogmaya Neupane taking Jal Samadhi to end the autocratic Rana regime, and claimed that Ganesh Nepali's self-immolation would also ensure the end of this government. 

'Just as Yogmaya Neupane's Jal Samadhi led to the fall of the Rana regime, this government will also have to pay a heavy price due to Ganesh Nepali's self-immolation. This government is responsible for this murder,' Mahar said. 

At the end of his address, MP Mahar chanted slogans in an angry tone, accusing the government of being involved in killing the public rather than being in their favor. He concluded his statement by shouting 'Down with this government'. 

MP Mahar questioned the government's morality, stating that while the government was counting its 100-day achievements, it had also cut down health insurance for the poor.
