MP Karishma Kathariya Expresses Helplessness Over Government's Failure to Provide Fertilizer and Seeds to Farmers

Kathmandu. Rashtriya Swatantra Party MP Karishma Kathariya has said that they have to feel helpless as the government is unable to provide the necessary fertilizer and seeds to the farmers.

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, she questioned why the government's heart does not ache hearing the pain of farmers who, even when suffering from fever, cry out asking for fertilizer before paracetamol.

Mentioning that farmers keep requesting for fertilizer while the government keeps saying there is fertilizer in the warehouse, she warned the government not to trade in the tears of the farmers. Speaking in the meeting, MP Kathariya said, 'Speaker sir, why does the government's heart not ache hearing the pain of farmers who, even when suffering from fever, cry out asking for fertilizer before paracetamol? Our अन्नदाता (annadata - food providers) are saying, we can bear fever, we can bear illness, but we cannot bear hunger and drought in the fields. We are ready to pay any price, but arrange fertilizer for us.'

She further elaborated on the contradictory situation between the government and the farmers, saying, 'The government says there is fertilizer in the warehouse, but the farmers think why is that fertilizer not in the fields? This is like trading in the tears of the farmers. It is painful when farmers call hundreds of times daily asking what is the use of electing you if you cannot even provide fertilizer.'

MP Kathariya said that as people's representatives, they have to feel helpless as they are unable to provide even the minimum fertilizer and seeds required by the farmers. She demanded that the government should immediately apologize to the अन्नदाता (annadata - food providers) farmers, bring out the truth, and present alternatives and relief.

She stated that it is unfortunate that chemical fertilizer has become more important than paracetamol for the farmers in a country called agricultural.
