Government Payment Deadline Today for Fiscal Year 2082/83

Kathmandu. Today is the last day for making government payments under the fiscal year 2082/83 budget. As per the provision that payments must be completed by Jestha 25th of every Ashad, all government offices must complete such payments through the digital system by Thursday.

Deputy Director General Om Prasad Rizal informed that all government payments for the current fiscal year will be stopped from 12 midnight tonight as per the provisions of the Economic Procedure and Financial Accountability Act.

This payment applies to all levels of government bodies, including local levels, provinces, and the federal government.

Rizal states that if payment is not made by today, such expenses can only be made from the provisions in the budget of the upcoming fiscal year.

As of Wednesday, out of the allocated budget of 19 kharba 64 arab 11 crore for the current fiscal year, the government has spent 15 kharba 31 arab 97 crore 15 lakh rupees. This is equivalent to 78 percent of the budget.

Of this, 10 kharba 30 arab 42 crore 84 lakh rupees have been spent from the allocated budget of 11 kharba 80 arab 98 crore for current expenditure, which is 87.25 percent; 1 kharba 63 arab 17 crore 34 lakh rupees from 4 kharba 7 arab 88 crore 80 lakh rupees for capital expenditure, which is 40 percent; and 3 kharba 38 arab 36 crore 97 lakh rupees from 3 kharba 75 arab 24 crore 20 lakh rupees for financial management, which is 90.17 percent of the budget has been spent.

• Payment in the Last Week

As the last day for payment approaches, government spending has been increasing. On Friday alone, payments worth 11 arab 47 crore 80 lakh rupees were made by government bodies.

Similarly, payments of 11 arab 76 crore 22 lakh were made on Tuesday, 28 arab 55 crore 71 lakh on Monday, and 2 arab 83 crore 78 lakh rupees on Sunday.

Similarly, payments of 1 arab 82 crore 9 lakh on Saturday, 12 arab 83 crore 68 lakh on Friday, and 19 arab 71 crore 62 lakh rupees on the previous Thursday were made in government payments.

Among these payments, while significant expenditure is seen in current and financial management, the payment of capital expenditure appears disappointing even until Wednesday. According to the data from the Office of the Controller General of Accounts, only 6 arab 74 crore 21 lakh rupees were spent on capital expenditure on Wednesday, 4 arab 56 crore 21 lakh on Tuesday, and 2 arab 57 crore 7 lakh on Monday.

With today being the last day, there is a rush for payments in development offices. Particularly, offices under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, such as the Department of Roads, the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, and their subordinate offices, are facing pressure to finalize payment processes.
