MP Kabindra Burlakoti Proposes Integrated Hearing Process

Kathmandu. National Independent Party (NIP) MP Kabindra Burlakoti has proposed to conduct the discussion between the proposed individual and the complainant on the same day to make the parliamentary hearing process more effective. He made such a proposal in the meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee held on Thursday to discuss the hearing related to the Chief Election Commissioner and Commissioners. Referring to the experience of the previous parliamentary hearing, he expressed the view that the process would be more effective if the discussion with the complainant and the question-and-answer session with the proposed individual were conducted on the same day. He stated that this would avoid the need to re-remember the subject matter of the complaint and make the discussion more organized. He clarified that a separate meeting could be held for subsequent decisions if necessary. Speaking at the meeting, MP Burlakoti said, 'Based on the experience of the previous hearing, it is more effective for us to meet, discuss with the complainant, and conduct the question-and-answer session with the concerned proposed individual on the same day. This way, we don't have to remember what the complaint was. If necessary, we can discuss and decide in another meeting later, but let's conduct the discussion between the complainant and the proposed individual on the same day.' He also urged to conduct the committee's meeting through virtual means. He stated that conducting virtual meetings would save time and make it easier for members to participate in the meeting after necessary study from home. He also emphasized the need to provide the necessary documents for the meeting through digital copies.
