Roads Blocked Across Nepal Due to Rain, Landslides

Kathmandu. Major highways and road sections in various provinces of the country have been blocked due to continuous rain, floods, and landslides.

As per the details until 8:00 AM on Thursday, traffic on the main roads of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces has been affected.

Under Koshi Province, the Mid-Hill Highway was blocked due to floods in Bokhim, Ward No. 5 of Bhojpur Municipality, on Asar 12, which has now been made one-way and an alternative route is also available. However, the Mechi Highway in Rajaduali, Ward No. 9 of Ilam Municipality, Ilam, has been completely blocked since Asar 23 due to continuous rain.

Similarly, the Tamor-Corridor road section has been completely obstructed due to floods in Nawakhola, Ward No. 2 of Thumbewa Rural Municipality, Panchthar, today, Asar 25.

In Bagmati Province, roads are also closed due to floods and repair work. All vehicles plying the BP Highway section from Khurkot-Nepalethok-Katunjebesi in Kavre have been prohibited from operating on the BP Highway road section since Asar 22 due to the risk of potential floods.

In Indrasarovar Rural Municipality, Ward No. 2 and 4, Mahalakshmi area of Makwanpur, the Kulekhani-Phakhel-Humane-Pharping-Kathmandu road section is completely obstructed due to ongoing road repair work. This road section is scheduled to remain closed until the 25th of this month for repair work.

In Lumbini and Karnali provinces, landslides and floods have also created blockages on hilly roads. Under Lumbini Province, the Palpa-Gulmi road section has been completely blocked since yesterday, Asar 24, due to a landslide in Malmul, Ward No. 3 of Ridi-Kot Rural Municipality, Palpa.

In Rijeghard, Ward No. 6 of Athbiskot Municipality in Karnali Province, the Bheri Corridor has been completely obstructed due to floods on Asar 17. Passengers have been facing hardship due to these road blockages, and efforts are underway to clear the roads.
