MP Harinadevi Kami Criticizes Government's Blue Bus Decision for Women's Safety

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Member of Parliament Harinadevi Kami has satirized the government's decision to make the color of public transport buses blue for women's safety. In the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, MP Kami said that security is ensured not by color, but by the effective implementation of law. Kami termed this step of the government as a 'political stunt'.

Kami said, 'Is women's security ensured by the color of the bus or by the effective implementation of law? If security were to be achieved merely by changing the color of the bus, crimes in society would have ended much earlier.'

She stated that women need respect, equality, and security in every public place and area, rather than buses of a separate color. 'The taxes paid by the public should be spent not on changing colors, but on actual security, strict law enforcement, and basic services,' Kami said.
