Roads Affected by Floods, Landslides, and Maintenance Across Nepal

Kathmandu. Vehicle movement has been affected on the main highways of various provinces of the country due to floods, landslides, road maintenance, and continuous rainfall. According to the details released by the Nepal Police, full and partial obstructions remain on various highways as of 8 AM today.

In Koshi Province, the road has been made one-way due to floods in the Bokhim area of Bhojpur Municipality-5 on the Mid-Hilly Highway in Bhojpur. Similarly, vehicles are also operating one-way on the Mechi Highway in Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality-9, after a landslide occurred.

In Bagmati Province, vehicle operation has been stopped on the Kathmandu-Nepal Thok-Kutunje road section due to the risk of potential floods. In the Mahalakshmi area of Indrasarovar-4, Makwanpur, the Kulekhani-Phakel-Pharping-Kathmandu road section has been completely closed due to road maintenance. The police have stated that this road will remain closed for about a month while maintenance is ongoing.

Similarly, the Friendship Bridge connecting Nepal and China in Rasuwagadhi, Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2, Rasuwa, has been completely closed until June 17 due to maintenance. In the Bingan area of Bakaiya Rural Municipality-12, Makwanpur, the Kanti Lokpath is completely obstructed due to a landslide, while in the Champi area of Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur, the Bhattedanda-Hetauda (Kanti Lokpath) is also completely closed due to continuous rainfall.

In Kavre, the BP Highway in the Kaladhunga area of Roshi Rural Municipality-11 is operating one-way due to floods.

In Lumbini Province, the Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road section in the Dudhkola area of Panini Rural Municipality-2, Arghakhanchi, is operating one-way after a landslide, the Nepal Police have informed.

The police have urged the general public to travel only after obtaining information about the road conditions from the relevant authorities and to use alternative routes before traveling on the affected roads.
