KP Sharma Oli Addresses Madan Bhandari's 75th Birth Anniversary, Criticizes Regression and Balen Shah's Statement

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the regression that started from Bhadra 23 and 24 is continuing. Speaking at a discussion program on 'Nepal's Communist Movement and People's Leader Madan Bhandari' and 'Madan Bhandari National Award Presentation Ceremony' organized in Kathmandu on Sunday on the occasion of the 75th birth anniversary of people's leader Madan Bhandari, Oli said so.

'A regressive conspiracy of Bhadra 23 and 24 took place to finish Nepal's leftist movement and democracy,' Oli said, 'That conspiracy displaced the legitimate government. An unconstitutional government was formed by dissolving the legitimate parliament that was supposed to form the government.'

He said that self-reflection can be done if there are some shortcomings on their part. 'But the narrative that we ruined the country is wrong. Let's look at the parameters. We were defamed through false propaganda and rumors, creating public outrage, not by committing treason or not doing development work,' Oli said, 'It was done for the planning of that regression, and it is still continuing.'

Oli said that the election was held in adverse conditions with the result announced beforehand to legitimize that regression by dissolving the parliament.

UML also stated that it could not convince others at that time that this election was not for the leftists and democrats, and that the regression was being advanced in a legal manner.

'We are still not in an illusion, the series of regression is continuing,' he said, adding that Prime Minister Balen Shah's statement that India has encroached on many places is baseless and anti-national. However, he said that Prime Minister Shah has not yet refuted the statement.
