Spain and Cape Verde Advance to Round of 32 in FIFA World Cup 2026

In the match held at Estadio Guadalajara, Mexico, Spain defeated Uruguay 1-0. Alex Baena scored the decisive goal for Spain in the 42nd minute. The goal, coming from a pass by Marcos Llorente, was the only goal of the match.

Meanwhile, the match between Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia at Houston Stadium, USA, ended in a goalless draw. With this draw, Cape Verde has become the group runner-up and has entered the final 32 of the World Cup for the first time in history.

Spain secured the top spot in the group stage with two wins and one draw from three matches, while Cape Verde secured a place in the knockout stage by adding an important point. Uruguay and Saudi Arabia's journey ended in the group stage.
