Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Arrive in Islamabad

Kathmandu. Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reached Pakistan's capital Islamabad on Tuesday. The Iranian delegation was welcomed by Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior ministers. This visit comes after the talks between the US and Iran held in Burgenstock last weekend. Pakistan and Qatar had described the talks on Monday as positive and fruitful. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying, 'Pakistan and Iran have strong fraternal relations based on history, faith, and culture,' the statement further added, 'Pakistan's leadership and people heartily welcome Foreign Minister Araghchi and the Iranian delegation in Islamabad.' According to analysts, Pezeshkian's visit to Pakistan is expected to further strengthen regional diplomatic coordination after the US-Iran talks. Pakistan had played a role as a mediator in establishing dialogue between the US and Iran in recent months. During the visit, discussions are expected on bilateral relations, regional security, trade, energy cooperation, and the latest status of US-Iran talks.
