Gagan Thapa: Nepali Congress to Derecognize Members Not Digitally Updated

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that those who do not digitally update their active membership will not be recognized as party members by the party.

Speaking at a cadre gathering in Jhapa on Tuesday, President Thapa said that the newly created membership system will not recognize those who are not updated as party members.

'Any friend who is not updated, Nepali Congress respects them, loves them, but does not recognize them as a party member,' said President Thapa, 'What should I do now? I know them personally, I say Jai Nepal, but now the system itself does not recognize them, their name will not appear in the ward during voting.'

He also stated that the party has made membership management, election process, and organizational operation completely based on a digital system. Therefore, he said that the names of un-updated members will not be included in the election process from the ward convention to the upper levels, and this system has been implemented not to prohibit anyone but to make the party legal and organized.

Leaders from the faction of former President Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala have not updated their active membership.
