Education Minister Sasmita Pokharel States Government Initiates Restructuring of Nepal Scouts

Kathmandu. Minister of Education and Sports Sasmita Pokharel has stated that the government has started the process of policy and legal restructuring to advance Nepal Scouts according to new methods and systems. He gave this information while addressing a special program organized on the occasion of the establishment day of Nepal Scouts on Friday.

Minister Pokharel mentioned that Scouts should not be limited to just lining up or as ordinary volunteers. He said that it provides important life skills education for disaster management and achieving maximum results with limited resources.

Minister Pokharel expressed the view that the scouting campaign will be very effective in reducing the increasing mental stress and health problems among today's students. Informing that the ministry is working on transforming the current organizational structure of Nepal Scouts in a modern way, he clarified that the government is positive about forming a new working committee. According to him, necessary consultations and discussions are also being held with the Ministry of Law for the legal and policy reform of Scouts.

Discussing the contribution and importance of Scouts, he said, 'Whenever there is a need for manpower and volunteers, Scouts are present. The training provided by Scouts in disaster preparedness and management is an important lesson for a lifetime. The tendency of today's students to get stressed even over small things and the increasing mental problems. The physical exercise and mental training provided by Scouts help make students disciplined, healthy, and fit.'

Expressing commitment to make Scouts more effective in line with the country's new federal structure and modern needs, Minister Pokharel also highly praised the positive contribution made by Scouts to society.
