Special Court Convicts Dinesh Prasad Yadav for Illegally Acquiring Property

Kathmandu. The Special Court has convicted Dinesh Prasad Yadav, who was working as an Amin on contract at the Bagmati Nagar Land Integration Project, GauriGhat, on charges of illegally acquiring property. The verdict was delivered by a bench comprising Special Court Kathmandu Chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and members Umesh Koirala and Bidur Koirala. The court has sentenced Yadav to 1 year in prison and imposed a fine equal to the illegally acquired amount of Rs 1 crore 12 lakh 70 thousand 6 hundred 68 rupees and 62 paisa. Furthermore, his house, land, and other assets equivalent to the unexplained amount will be confiscated, as stated in the verdict. Yadav will also have to deposit Rs 4 lakh 50 thousand 8 hundred 26 rupees into the victim relief fund as per the Crime Victims Protection Act. The court analyzed Yadav's overall income and expenses during his probationary period (from 2063/05/08 to 2081/03/30). During that period, Yadav's legitimate income was found to be Rs 4 crore 25 lakh 92 thousand 9 hundred 51 rupees and 30 paisa, while his expenses and investments (expenditure) amounted to Rs 5 crore 38 lakh 63 thousand 6 hundred 19 rupees and 92 paisa. Thus, compared to his legitimate income, the court determined that Rs 1 crore 12 lakh 70 thousand 6 hundred 68 rupees and 62 paisa of his property had an unexplained source and was acquired illegally.
