Former Madhes Province MP Ashok Kumar Yadav Sought by Police for Attacking Officers

Kathmandu. Former Member of Parliament of Madhes Province has been involved in an incident where police were attacked during a dispute over an accident in Salempur, Kabilasi, Sarlahi. Former Provincial Member Ashok Kumar Yadav is being sought by Sarlahi police. However, he has not been found.

SP Rabindra Poudel of Sarlahi told Ratopati that an investigation is underway against Yadav for the offense of indecent behavior. He said, 'An investigation is being conducted against him.'

Yadav was a provincial assembly member from the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum in 2074 BS. He is currently affiliated with the Nepali Communist Party.

On the night of Jestha 25, around 9 PM, a tractor owned by Yadav, with registration number J. 1 T. 2550, collided with a parked truck with registration number Na. 6 Kha. 7623. The truck was parked in Agrawa, Kabilasi Municipality-8. The police stopped the tractor, which was fleeing after the collision, and asked both drivers to discuss and reach a compromise, or to come to the police station if an agreement could not be reached. After that, the tractor driver called Ashok Yadav.

After Yadav arrived at the scene, the people who accompanied him surrounded and attacked the police. SP Poudel stated that the group led by Yadav attacked the police and made the tractor escape. He said, 'They attacked the police while hurling abuses, and an investigation is ongoing regarding that.'

Police have arrested two individuals involved in the assault. Those arrested are Yadav's nephew Vikram Kumar Yadav, 19, a resident of Salempur, Kabilasi Municipality-10, and his maternal nephew, Indian citizen Priyanshu Yadav, 21. Police have obtained a remand to investigate them for the offense of indecent behavior. Former Provincial Member Yadav is also a local of Salempur.
