Man Arrested in Rautahat for Attacking Forest Patrol Team

Rautahat. Police have arrested Rajkishor Sah, 26, a resident of Maidha village in Gujara Municipality-2, who attacked a patrol team for forest conservation in Rautahat, from Birgunj. A joint team of the Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur, and the Birgunj Bita Police Post arrested accused Rajkishor from Birgunj on Saturday evening while he was hiding. District Police Spokesperson DSP Basanta Gautam said that he is currently in the custody of the Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur. Based on the complaint of Assistant Forest Officer Rajkumar Chaudhary, a case of attempted murder was filed against accused Rajkishor Sah and others at the Area Police Office, Chandranigahapur, and an arrest warrant was issued by the District Court, Rautahat. Based on information that timber was being stolen, a group including Rajkishor attacked the joint team of the Division Forest Office and Rangpur Community Forest Consumer Committee on the night of the 19th at 12:30 AM. Assistant Forest Officer of Division Forest Office Rajkumar Chaudhary, Forest Guard Surendra Chaudhary, Rangpur Community Forest Consumer Committee members Arjun Chaudhary and Bimal Thapa, and the patrol vehicle driver Arvind Patel were among those injured in the attack. According to Ashok Yadav, Chairman of the Rangpur Community Forest Consumer Committee, the team had gone on patrol after receiving information about timber theft in the forest area. However, upon reaching inside the forest, the group launched an organized attack on them. The attack on employees engaged in forest conservation has once again brought the influence of the smuggling network active in Rautahat's forest areas and the issue of security into discussion.
