12 Killed in Israeli Attack in South Lebanon, Including High-Ranking Officers

Beirut. At least 12 people, including high-ranking Lebanese army officials, have been killed in the latest Israeli attack in South Lebanon. This deadly attack occurred just days after a conditional ceasefire agreement was reached between the two countries with the mediation of the United States.

According to the Lebanese army, a Brigadier General, a Captain, and a soldier were killed in an attack targeting a military vehicle moving on the Khardali-Nabatieh road. Those killed include Brigadier General Wissam Sabra, Captain Elie Khoury, and soldier Hussein Gozal.

The Israeli army, however, claimed that the attack occurred in an 'active war zone'. According to Israel, coordination with the Israeli army is necessary for any movement in the war zone. It stated that further investigation into this incident is underway.

The Lebanese army called Israel's move a 'brutal and planned attack aimed at thwarting any attempt to reach a solution'. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun strongly condemned it as a 'gross violation' of Lebanese sovereignty and international law. Similarly, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam termed it a 'heinous crime' and an attack on the entire Lebanese people.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Army Commander General Rudolf Heckel has departed for Pakistan to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Field Marshal Asim Munir. Pakistan is currently mediating efforts to end the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran. The Israeli attacks in Lebanon are considered the main agenda of this discussion. agenda
