Acting Chief Sunita Dangol Directs City Police to Become Nation's Model

Kathmandu. Acting Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, has directed the city police to work towards becoming the nation's model city police. Speaking at the promotion and handover ceremony of the Chief of City Police on Wednesday, she instructed them to provide service with polite behavior towards the public. She mentioned that the city police are the brand ambassadors of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and clarified that the work style and behavior of the city police determine the image of the Metropolitan City. Acting Chief Dangol directed the city police to work closely with the public, start service with polite behavior, and fully adhere to the chain of command. She also urged the city police to be prepared for potential disasters and rescue operations, keeping the monsoon season in mind. Directing the city police leadership to coordinate with other security agencies for this purpose, she emphasized the need to maintain unity within the organization. Speaking on the subject of city security and management, she said, 'City police are like brand ambassadors of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, they are the face. The behavior and work you do reflect Kathmandu Metropolitan City. You are all the face of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and your responsibility is even more important. Moreover, it is very sensitive. The image of the Metropolitan City is greatly helped by the behavior you exhibit. When city police are in the field, if anyone faces a problem and asks 'who is there?', they should be able to confidently think of you, so please work in a way that people remember you when they face problems.' She added, 'When you work connected with the public, consider this as a directive to all of you, deal with the public politely and courteously. Let your service begin with a नमस्कार (Namaste). If your service starts with a polite word, 50 percent of the problem will be solved right there. Also, when you work in the field until late at night, ensure regular reporting. Please report without any compromise. Let the mobile city police teams patrol special areas of the city up to three times a day. You need to continuously monitor things like roads, footpaths, garbage, and businesses encroaching on footpaths or occupying them. As regular work, patrol Kathmandu at least three times a day and work to immediately resolve the problems there.' She also pledged that issues related to the promotion and development, transfer, promotion, and level adjustment of city police would be carried forward legally. She mentioned that the capacity building, training, and necessary equipment management of the city police would be prioritized and stated that everyone would be provided with respectful opportunities without discrimination based on seniority or juniority. In the program, Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City's Metropolitan Police Force, Bishnu Prasad Joshi, expressed his commitment to strictly follow the policies and directives of the Metropolitan City. Mentioning that the Metropolitan Police Act has come into implementation, he urged the Metropolitan leadership to also focus on the career development of the police. He stated that due to the non-implementation of the act in the past, the career development and other work of the police had been stalled. On Wednesday, Kathmandu Metropolitan City promoted City Police Deputy Superintendent Joshi to the post of City Police Senior Superintendent and handed over new responsibilities. This promotion and directive are expected to add new energy to further take effective steps in enhancing the morale of the city police, maintaining city peace and security, footpath management, and garbage control.
