German Foreign Minister Expresses Concern Over Escalating Israeli Military Action in Southern Lebanon

Berlin. Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has expressed deep concern over the further military advance of the Israeli army in southern Lebanon. He has urged all parties to immediately respect the ceasefire and seek solutions through peaceful dialogue to prevent further escalation of regional tensions.

In a statement issued by Foreign Minister Baerbock, it was stated that although the Israeli military action was initiated in response to continuous attacks on northern Israel, further military expansion of the current situation would not be a long-term solution. According to him, this could further destabilize the already sensitive regional situation.

He expressed particular concern for the safety of ordinary citizens, warning that thousands of families in Lebanon could be displaced again due to military activities. He stated that continuous conflict could damage homes, schools, health facilities, and other basic infrastructure, and the humanitarian crisis could worsen.

Baerbock stated that if some areas of Lebanon become permanently uninhabitable due to the conflict, it will have a negative impact not only on the local population but also on the stability of the entire region. He noted that it would not be beneficial for any party to have civilians pay the price of military tension.

Germany has urged all parties to exercise restraint, fully comply with international humanitarian law, and ensure the safety of innocent civilians. Furthermore, it has emphasized the need to effectively implement the ceasefire and prioritize diplomatic efforts towards long-term peace and stability.

Currently, the increasing military activities in southern Lebanon have attracted the attention of the regional and international community. Various countries and international organizations have also pointed out the need to reduce tension and seek solutions through dialogue and diplomatic means.
