GANDAKI PROVINCE GOVERNMENT FIXES RIDE-SHARING FARES

Pokhara. Gandaki Province Government has fixed the fares of ride-sharing vehicles operating within the province. Fares for two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles have been set. The provincial government has passed the ride-sharing regulations through a cabinet meeting and brought it into implementation. The regulations were passed through the meeting on Baisakh 22. Earlier, the regulations were passed for the first time through the meeting on Baisakh 30, 2082. However, the implementation of that regulation was halted due to a circular from the federal government and the protest by transport entrepreneurs.

The regulations have now been passed for the second time. It is mentioned in the regulations that the ministry will fix the fares. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development and Transport has determined the fares for ride-sharing vehicles operating in Gandaki Province. According to the determined fares, different charges are included for four-wheelers and two-wheelers. Also, the rates differ for petrol and electric vehicles. The regulations stipulate that both types of vehicles must provide concessions to passengers.

The initial fare for four-wheeler petrol vehicles has been set at Rs 60. After that, it is Rs 48.5 per kilometer. The base fare for up to 2 kilometers is Rs 156.5. The base fare is set for the initial and up to 2 kilometers distance. This fare will be Rs 156.5. There is a mandatory provision to provide a 10% discount on petrol vehicles and a 15% discount on electric vehicles on the fixed fare. For four-wheelers, the base fare will be charged for up to 2 kilometers, and thereafter the fare will increase for additional distance.

The initial fare for two-wheeler vehicles has been set at Rs 30. This amount will be used for the initial travel distance, and thereafter Rs 16.85 per kilometer has been set. The base fare will be used for up to 1 kilometer. For this, Rs 46.85 will be charged. Two-wheelers also have to provide a 10% discount on petrol vehicles and a 15% discount on electric vehicles, informed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development. According to him, no additional charges other than the fixed fare can be levied. Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development Govinda Bahadur Nepali informed that the fixed fare and discount must be mandatorily included in the ride-sharing app.
