US Military Commander Meets Cuban Military Officials

Kathmandu. While the US President Donald Trump administration is advancing its policy regarding Cuba, a senior US military commander from the Latin American region has held talks with Cuban military officials.

General Francis Donovan, head of the US Southern Military Command, held a brief discussion on security-related issues with Cuban military officials on Friday near the US naval base in Guantanamo Bay.

According to a statement issued by Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces, border security in the military sector was discussed during the meeting. Both sides viewed the discussion positively and agreed to maintain mutual contact in the future.

During this period, the US administration has been taking various diplomatic and economic steps against Cuba. Additionally, continuous dialogue is ongoing regarding the relations between the two countries and regional security.

During the meeting, General Donovan also obtained information regarding the security situation of the US naval base in Guantanamo, the security of the soldiers working there and their families, and military preparedness, the US Southern Military Command stated.
