Man Arrested for Threatening to Set Fire to Monasteries

Kathmandu. Police have arrested Janak Pariyar, who had announced to set fire to monasteries. Pariyar, who is from Rukum Paschim's Athbiskot Municipality-12, was arrested from Tokha in Kathmandu. He was arrested for investigation, SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Complex Kathmandu told Ratopati. The 27-year-old Pariyar had said at a dialogue forum in Anam Nagar, 'We will set fire to monasteries.' He had warned of a nationwide rebellion if equal rights were not given. His statement that Dalits are forced to live a hellish life since yesterday and the condition of Dalits in the village is pathetic has been broadcast on YouTube channels. Pariyar has been living in Baniyantar in Tokha Municipality Ward No.-8.
