Former PM Bhattarai Extends Greetings on Republic Day, Emphasizes Progress

Kathmandu. Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has extended heartfelt greetings to all Nepali sisters and brothers residing in the country and abroad on the occasion of Republic Day, 2083. 

While extending greetings on the occasion of Republic Day, he emphasized the need to advance the country further in a more progressive direction according to the aspirations of the new era and the new generation.

Bhattarai recalled that Federal Democratic Republic Nepal was established on the foundation of the ten-year People's War, the historic People's Movement of 2062/63, the Madhesh Movement, and the struggles and sacrifices of various oppressed communities. He stated that the republic is not just a change in the system of governance but a historic resolve for citizen supremacy, inclusive democracy, federalism, social justice, and a prosperous Nepal. He clarified that the need of the hour is not to rest on the achievements gained but to move forward standing on those achievements in accordance with the changing global context.

Pointing out the need to improve some imperfections in the constitution, implementation weaknesses, and structural problems of the state in a timely manner, former Prime Minister Bhattarai stated that Nepal should now move forward by defining a 'Common National Core Value' for the construction of a sovereign, prosperous, and developed nation. He emphasized that the true significance of the republic can only be established by focusing on good governance, a production-oriented economy, science and technology, national self-respect, social justice, human happiness, and prosperity.

He also expressed his wish that this Republic Day would inspire all Nepalis to move forward with new thinking, new resolve, and a new national vision, while honoring the struggles and sacrifices of the past.
