Nepali Congress Leader Sita Gurung Says President's Address on Republic Day Strengthens Institutions

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader and former minister Sita Gurung has said that the government's request to President Ramchandra Paudel to address on the occasion of Republic Day should not be taken otherwise. Leader Gurung said that the institutional development of the republic will be further strengthened if the President addresses the main ceremony of Republic Day.  

'The government's decision through the Council of Ministers to request President Ramchandra Paudel to address the public should not be taken otherwise,' Gurung told Rato Pati, 'The institutional development of the republic will be further strengthened if the President addresses the special ceremony of Republic Day.'

After the government formally requested through a Council of Ministers decision, President Paudel will address the special ceremony organized on the occasion of Republic Day at Tundikhel.

However, the tradition in previous Republic Day celebrations was for the Prime Minister to address.
