Film 'Roll No. 1' Explores Parental Pressure and Child Psychology

Kathmandu. The film 'Roll No. 1' is set to be released this Friday. The artists say the film is based on child psychology and independent interests. They state that the film addresses the pressure parents put on children to be first in class and its effects. Actor Mukun Bhusal said that the film is against the understanding of Nepali society that only the person who comes first in class is intelligent and everyone else is foolish. 'In our promotional content, we have also mentioned that only the one who comes first in class is intelligent and everyone else is foolish; that is the story of the film,' Bhusal said. 'It is the thinking of our society to want to fulfill their unfulfilled dreams through their children. For this, we forcefully try to make our children fulfill our dreams.' Bhusal, who said that 'Roll No. 1' tells the story that parental psychology needs to change, stated that the film will convey that by working in the field and subject of one's choice, one can achieve a lot with little effort. Actor Sushank Mainali said that the film addresses the story of what happens in children's lives due to parental pressure. He said that subjects studied and memorized under pressure and influence do not stay in the mind for long. Mainali clarified that the film will convey that one cannot last long or be competent in a field entered under the pressure of others. 'It is also an internal conflict between father and son. Every parent thinks, my son should be like me or if not, he should become this,' Sushank said. 'The film is about the pressure to fulfill one's own desires through the son and the struggle for it.' He said that if a child's desires are identified and they are guided in that direction from the beginning, everyone will be successful in their life. Manouli said that while the current government is saying that exams should not be taken up to class five, 'Roll No. 1' is also raising this issue. Actress Renu Yogi said that the film is based on child psychology. She revealed that the film is about the dreams a father gives to his child so that they do not have to live in poverty. Renu shared that the film shows the effect of parental pressure on a child's psychology and its impact on their life. She is confident that the film will clearly show how sensitive children are. 'From one perspective, it feels like what parents say is right, and from another perspective, I feel like I would have protected them a bit more,' she said. 'But ultimately, it feels better to guide the child in whatever their desire is. If it were me, I would side with the child.' The film 'Roll No. 1', produced by Binod Poudel, is directed by Jon Yonjan. Besides Mukun, Sushank, and Renu, Sirjana Adhikari plays the lead role in the film. The child artists in the film include Nirbhik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Sayam Katuwal, and Sijal Shrestha. Chhatramaya Giri and Ramesh Chaulagai are the co-producers of the film, produced by Binod Poudel and Janvi Poudel.
