Kathmandu Metropolitan City Issues 15-Day Ultimatum to Galaxy 4K Television

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued a final 15-day ultimatum to Galaxy 4K Television, operated by Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd., to remove its belongings and pay the outstanding rent to the landlord. The Law and Human Rights Department of the Metropolitan City issued a public notice informing that if the goods are not removed within the stipulated time, the auction process will be initiated.

Mrigendra Prasad Mishra, the landlord of Ward No. 3 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, had filed a case against Gitendra Babu (GB) Rai, Chairman of Gorkha Media Network, seeking eviction of the property and recovery of rent. In the said case, the Metropolitan City's Judicial Committee decided on November 1, 2024, to evict the property and recover the rent and rent tax from the defendant (Gorkha Media).

As the decision of the Judicial Committee was not implemented, the Patan High Court issued a mandamus in the name of the Metropolitan City on August 14, 2025, to implement the decision within two months. Following the court's order, a team from the Metropolitan City completed the eviction of the property on November 1, 2025.

Even though six months have passed since the Metropolitan City evicted the property, the belongings of Galaxy 4K Television are still in the same location. Landlord Mrigendra Mishra had filed an application at the Metropolitan City on May 4, 2024, requesting the auction of those belongings.

Based on that application, the Metropolitan City has issued this 15-day public notice. The notice states, 'This is the final notice published for you to pay the rent due to the landlord and take your belongings within 15 days from the date of publication of this notice.'

If the goods are not removed within the 15-day deadline set by the Metropolitan City, those goods will be auctioned off in accordance with Section 70 of the 'Kathmandu Metropolitan City Dispute Resolution (Procedure) Act, 2075', the notice mentions.

GB Rai, who is involved in a cooperative fraud case, is currently absconding, and Galaxy 4K Television, under the chairmanship of GB Rai, is shut down.
