Saptakoshi River Island Yields 475kg of Marijuana Seized by Armed Police

Kathmandu. Armed police have recovered approximately 475 kg of marijuana from an island in the middle of the Saptakoshi River. The marijuana, illegally hidden in 16 sacks on an island between Barahakshetra Municipality-6 of Sunsari District and Belka Municipality-8 of Udaypur District, was recovered on Monday. Based on special information, a team led by Armed Police Inspector Meghraj Raut from the Armed Police Force, Nepal Disaster Management Base, Chatara, and Armed Police Inspector Raj Bikram Khadka from the Rampur Security Base recovered the marijuana. Due to its location on the island, the armed police brought the marijuana to this side of the river using a raft. Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police and Spokesperson Vishnu Prasad Bhatta informed that the seized marijuana has been handed over to the relevant bodies for necessary action.
