Traffic Police Fines 2,453 Drivers in Kathmandu Valley in 24 Hours

Kathmandu. In the checking conducted by the traffic police at various places in the Kathmandu Valley in the last twenty-four hours, two thousand 453 vehicle drivers have been penalized. Revenue of Rs 1.151 million has been collected from the said penalty.

During the checking conducted until this morning, 105 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), 238 for ride-sharing, 184 for running red lights, 186 for speeding, 14 for lane violations, 100 for obstructing sidewalks, 119 for honking in no-horn zones, 139 for one-way violations, and 1,368 for other violations, totaling two thousand 453 drivers, were penalized, informed Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nareshraj Subedi of the Valley Traffic Police Office.

He said, "In the Kathmandu Valley, 2,453 drivers who violated traffic rules have been penalized in a twenty-four-hour period. A total revenue of Rs 1.151 million has been deposited from this penalty."

Driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal and punishable, and the traffic police have urged passengers to immediately report to the nearest police office, the traffic control room's hotline number 103, and the police's hotline number 100 if they suspect a driver has consumed alcohol or drugs.
