Girona and Mallorca Relegated from La Liga

Madrid. Just one season after playing in the Champions League, Girona has been relegated from the Spanish La Liga.

Girona, a Catalan club that achieved historic success two seasons ago by finishing third in the league table, was under pressure to win its final match to stay in La Liga, but a 1-1 draw with Elche forced the team to drop to the second division.

Along with Girona, Mallorca has also fallen victim to relegation. Despite defeating bottom-placed Real Oviedo 3-0, Mallorca could not survive in La Liga. With this win, Mallorca's points reached 42, the same as Osasuna and Levante. However, falling behind in the head-to-head tiebreaker among these three clubs, Mallorca was demoted to the second division.

On the other hand, Barcelona, already crowned champions, lost to Valencia 3-1. While this victory was prestigious for Carlos Corberán's team Valencia, it was not enough to qualify for a European competition.

Celta Vigo secured its place in the Europa League by finishing sixth in the league. Celta Vigo achieved this success by defeating Sevilla 1-0. Similarly, Getafe defeated Osasuna 1-0 to capture seventh place in the table and successfully qualify for the Conference League.

Meanwhile, in a match at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 4-2. Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé both scored for Real Madrid. This match was the 451st and final game for veteran Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal for the club.
