Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya States Public Land Details

Pokhara. Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya has informed that there are approximately 81,155 ropanis of public land within the metropolitan area. He stated that this amount of public land was found after collecting details of dil, cliffs, lakes, rivers, and forests in various areas of the metropolis. 

Mayor Acharya informed that the metropolis has started a special campaign for the protection and management of public land. According to him, the metropolis is preparing a database by demanding detailed information of encroached land from all wards. On the same occasion, the Trade Union Federation handed over a building owned by them to the Pokhara Metropolitan City. 

The building, constructed in FY 2067/68 BS with the contribution of labor and wages of workers at a cost of approximately 1 crore 65 lakh rupees, was taken over by the metropolis as it appeared useful for government purposes.  

He said, “Many historical sites of Pokhara, which were known by the names of ponds, fields, and courtyards in the past, are now in danger of extinction. We are engaged in a campaign to find out the condition of such places and preserve their originality.”

Addressing the issues of workers raised during the building handover, Mayor Acharya also expressed his commitment to establish a separate 'Desk' in the Metropolitan City to manage the issues of the trade unions. He clarified that although the policy in the past was to provide land and buildings to various organizations, in the current situation, these structures will be utilized to the maximum for public interest and government work. He stated that the metropolis has adopted a policy of not only demolishing physical structures but also utilizing them positively in the process of protecting public property. –
