UK Minister for Indo-Pacific Affairs and Equalities, Seema Malhotra, Arrives in Nepal

Kathmandu. UK government's Minister for Indo-Pacific Affairs and Equalities, Seema Malhotra, has arrived in Nepal. She, who is also a leader of the UK's Labour Party, arrived in Nepal today. 

The British Embassy in Kathmandu confirmed her arrival in Nepal. Welcoming Minister Seema, the embassy stated that this would be an important visit for Britain-Nepal and that it would further strengthen the friendship and partnership between the two countries.

Further information about Minister Seema has not been provided. She has been the Member of Parliament for the Feltham and Heston constituency in West London since 2011 and has been working in the British Parliament on women's rights, employment, education, immigration policy, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Although she was born in London, her ancestral home is said to be in Punjab, India. Minister Seema has held discussions with representatives of British International Investment (BII) and Invest for Impact Nepal (IIN) on promoting investment and creating employment in Nepal.

She stated that BII is playing an important role in promoting Nepal as an attractive investment destination. She stated that BII, as the only Development Finance Institution (DFI) with an office in Nepal, invests in businesses that create employment.

BII invests in green energy, sustainable development, small and medium enterprises, and private sector expansion in Nepal. It has also recently collaborated in expanding climate-friendly investment through green bonds in Nepal.
