Ukraine Claims Significant Russian Casualties in Eastern Ukraine Strikes

Kyiv. Ukraine has claimed that a large number of Russian soldiers were killed in two attacks in the eastern part of the country occupied by it. Recently, Ukraine has been intensifying medium-range drone attacks targeting Russia's military structure. 

According to the commander of Ukraine's unmanned system forces, at least 65 trainees and one instructor were killed in an attack on a Russian drone pilot training camp in the occupied city of Snizhne on Wednesday night.

Similarly, another attack was carried out on the headquarters of the Russian security service and air defense system in the occupied Kherson region, according to Ukrainian claims.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that about 100 Russian soldiers were killed or injured in the attack. However, he has not disclosed when the attack took place. Ukraine's claim of such heavy losses is considered unusual. These claims could not be independently verified. Russian officials have also not yet responded to this.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed on Thursday that they have taken control of more territory on the front lines of the war. On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense has stated that some nuclear material storage sites have been sent to Belarus as part of nuclear weapons-related exercises.

The military exercise was led by Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko via video. In recent weeks, Ukraine appears to have made some progress on the battlefield.

According to the American war analysis institute, the Institute for the Study of War, for the first time since August 2024, Ukraine has succeeded in regaining more territory than Russia had occupied.

However, Russia still claims that about 20 percent of Ukraine's territory is under its control.
