Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife in Jhapa

Jhapa. Police have arrested a husband on the charge of murdering his own wife in Haldibari Rural Municipality-5 of Jhapa. On the night of Jestha 5, Gokarna Bhandari, 44, allegedly murdered his wife Urmila Bhandari, 33, during a domestic dispute.

As the dispute escalated, Gokarna allegedly struck Urmila on the head with a bamboo stick, police said. Urmila, who sustained serious head injuries, died at the scene. A police team dispatched immediately after receiving information about the incident took Gokarna, who was involved in the murder, into custody.

Police have also recovered the bamboo stick used in the incident from the scene. Gokarna, who has been arrested, is being held at the District Police Office, Jhapa, for necessary legal action and further investigation.
