Two Members Absent from Parliamentary Hearing Committee Meeting on Proposed Chief Justice

Kathmandu. Two members of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, which is discussing the hearing of proposed Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Sharma, are not participating. The 15-member joint committee has 3 members from Congress. Members of the House of Representatives Bhishma Raj Angdembe and Arjunnarsingh K.C. and National Assembly member Anand Dungana are members from the Congress side. Among them, Angdembe and K.C. are absent from the meeting. Angdembe is a member of the Constitutional Council that recommended Dr. Sharma for the appointment of Chief Justice by virtue of being the leader of the main opposition party. Angdembe informed Ratopati that he was not present in today's meeting because he had registered a written dissent there stating that Dr. Sharma should not be appointed. 'A person who registered a written dissent during the Constitutional Council meeting will not be present in the hearing committee. I have not gone there. Our party's other MP Arjunnarsingh K.C. has also not gone,' Angdembe told Ratopati. Dungana, however, informed that he is in the committee meeting and discussions are ongoing.
