Technical Committee Formed for Human-Wildlife Conflict Management

Kathmandu. A technical committee (task force) has been formed for the management of human-wildlife conflict. At the initiative of Minister of Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary, a technical committee (task force) has been formed for controlling damage caused by wildlife, improving policies and programs, and effective implementation at the local level. 

A 15-member task force has been formed under the convenership of a human-wildlife conflict management expert. The task force will study the damage caused by wildlife, review the current situation, and recommend necessary policy and legal amendments. Similarly, the task force has also been given the responsibility of selecting and implementing model projects in 20 wards based on indicators, providing technical support, and monitoring.

Programs will be implemented in coordination with the federal, provincial, and local levels, and arrangements have also been made to provide suggestions for making the relief system for damaged crops simple, effective, and timely.

Minister Chaudhary stated that she is serious about human-wildlife conflict management and is committed to working based on the suggestions given by the task force.
