KP Sharma Oli Remembers Madan Bhandari and Jivraj Ashrit on 33rd Memorial Day

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that remembering Madan Bhandari evokes not only the pain of losing a leader or friend but also the feeling of losing a visionary comrade.

Issuing a message on the occasion of the 33rd memorial day of Madan-Ashrit, he said, '33 years ago, in a mysterious incident in Dasdhunga, we lost revered people's leader Madan Bhandari and Jivraj Ashrit. Although the wounds are old, as time passes, the memories of their pain become deeper, and the deprivations become more profound. People's leader Madan Bhandari was my leader, friend, and comrade-in-arms. Jivraj Ashrit was a skilled organizer. Madan Bhandari was the pioneer of the People's Multiparty Democracy, which gave a new ideological discourse to our movement.'

He mentioned that People's Multiparty Democracy gave a unique refinement to the ideology according to the era, gave a strong voice to the movement, and provided a roadmap to bring the dream of change into the lives of the people. He said, 'We have advanced it as a campaign to fulfill the national aspiration of a prosperous Nepal, a happy Nepali.'

He says, 'Madan Bhandari-Jivraj Ashrit, and many elders and warriors born from this movement are not physically with us today. But their ideas and contributions are like beacons in our political journey. People's Multiparty Democracy is not a tool to gain popularity for a season; it is an ideology that stands on the ground of reality.'
