Office of Auditor General Reports 179 Offices Unaudited Due to Protests

Kathmandu. The Office of the Auditor General has stated that audits could not be conducted in 179 offices due to the Genji movement.

The office provided this information on Friday by releasing a summary of the 62nd annual report through a press conference. According to the report, due to the protests and incidents that occurred on Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082, the accounts of 179 offices were not submitted, resulting in an inability to audit an amount equivalent to 1 kharba 47 arab 90 crore.

According to the office, an initial audit revealed an irregularity of 95 arab 27 crore 8 lakh rupees. However, after the submission of evidence and responses from the concerned bodies following the issuance of the preliminary audit report, 7 arab 17 crore 97 lakh rupees were reconciled, leaving a net irregularity of 88 arab 9 crore 11 lakh, as informed by Auditor General Toyam Raya.

He stated that the country's irregularity is increasing due to a lack of financial discipline in government and public spending. According to the report, the state's total irregularity has reached 7 kharba 55 arab 17 crore 22 lakh rupees.
