MP Padma Aryal Criticizes Government's Policy and Program

Kathmandu. CPN (UML) MP Padma Aryal has said that the government's policy and program are not in line with the people's thinking. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday during the discussion on the policy and program, she commented that the policy and program could not address the people's expectations.

'The people thought that the style of governance would change, the thinking of the state would change, the priorities would change,' Aryal said, 'But reading this policy and program, it seems there are no words, no vision. There are declarations, no guidelines. There are slogans, no basis for implementation.'

Leader Aryal, who is also the Deputy Leader of the UML Parliamentary Party, claimed that it was not clear whether it was a policy or a program.

'What is policy? What is program? It is difficult to distinguish. This is not just the government's document, but a common document of the nation,' Aryal said, 'Its excellence is the desire of all of us. Therefore, criticizing it is not opposition for the sake of opposition, but a responsibility towards the nation.'

She questioned the government, asking how society could be reached without the people being happy and joyful, even though 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' is a national resolve, but that phrase was not included in the program.

'Instead of continuing the positive efforts of past governments, a tendency to devalue them was seen. Good programs of yesterday's governments were sought to be taken not openly but secretly,' she said, 'Because of this, some words were found to have unintended meanings.'
