Energy Sector is Nepal's Sole Path to Prosperity, Says IPPAN Senior Vice President Mohan Dangi

Kathmandu. Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) Senior Vice President Mohan Dangi has stated that the energy sector is the only strong and reliable basis that can lead Nepal to the path of prosperity. Speaking at a program organized in the capital, he mentioned that Nepal has the potential to produce a large amount of green energy from hydropower, sun, and wind, and that the private sector has already proven its capability. He stated that the private sector has played a major role in increasing the electricity production capacity from only 254 megawatts nationwide in the year 2055 BS to 4300 megawatts today. According to Dangi, the private sector has already produced approximately 3500 megawatts of electricity out of the total production capacity. He emphasized that there is no need to doubt the government's ability to trade electricity or build transmission lines and that this sector should be fully trusted. He informed that IPPAN is continuously engaging in dialogue and discussion with the Finance Minister, Energy Minister, and Prime Minister to resolve the problems in the energy sector. Senior Vice President Dangi claimed that statistics have already confirmed that the energy sector can make the country prosperous. He said, 'This energy sector is the only sector that can lead this country to the path of prosperity. We have proven that. We have increased the 254 megawatts from 2055 BS to 4300 megawatts today. We have already produced 3500 megawatts. Now, what reason is there for the Nepal government not to trust this sector by saying it cannot trade electricity or build transmission lines?' He stated that the role of the media and the private sector is important in spreading positive messages in the energy sector. Urging to focus on the positive possibilities and achievements in the energy sector rather than its negative aspects, he said that the government should not ignore the hydropower sector as it is the main basis for making Nepal prosperous. He stated that the government should create a suitable environment for investment and trade as the hydropower and energy sector will change the country's future.
