Two Arrested for Pickpocketing on Public Transport

Kathmandu. Police have arrested two people who fled after pickpocketing cash from passengers on public transport.

On May 12, at 10:30 AM, Rs 45,000 cash that was with a passenger was stolen inside a public bus going from Basundhara from Ward No. 26, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, New Buspark. Police took two people into custody from the Samakhushi area at 3:30 PM on the same day on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

Those arrested include 41-year-old Purna Bahadur B.K., a resident of Ward No. 1, Lisankhupakha Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok District, currently residing at Miteri Pul in Kathmandu, and 28-year-old Sukman Gadar. During the investigation, it was revealed that Purna Bahadur B.K. among those arrested is a repeat offender. Police stated that he has been legally prosecuted 13 times for various cases such as theft, drugs, and indecent behavior from the year 2005 to 2024.

According to Information Officer and Police Superintendent Rameshwar Karki, a special team deployed from the Crime Investigation Office has arrested them and sent them to the District Police Complex for further investigation and necessary legal action.
