Ten Arrested in Baglung for Slaughtering Oxen

Baglung. Police have arrested 10 people in Dhorpatan Municipality of Baglung district on the charge of slaughtering oxen. Police took them under control based on a special tip that locals in Ghosa, Ward No. 3 of Dhorpatan Municipality, were slaughtering oxen for meat and distributing it. Among those arrested are 40-year-old Lalbir BK, 21-year-old Saroj Sunar, 55-year-old Yam Bahadur Rokaya, 53-year-old Til Prasad Sunar, and 60-year-old Thama Bahadur Sunar. Similarly, 46-year-old Bimal BK, 22-year-old Binod Sunar, 30-year-old Jala Bahadur Kami, 37-year-old Bhakta Bahadur Kami, and 40-year-old Rim Prasad Sunar were also arrested by the police from the scene. Information Officer and Police Inspector Kamal Jang Thapa stated that a team led by Police Inspector Tilak Manandhar from the Area Police Office, Burtibang, found them slaughtering oxen on Monday evening. Police have also recovered weapons used for slaughtering oxen from the scene. Thapa informed that an investigation has been initiated against the 10 arrested individuals under the offense related to livestock, specifically the law prohibiting the killing or slaughtering of cows and oxen. Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing after presenting them before the Baglung District Court and extending their detention by five days.
