Minister's Secretariat Staffer Arrested for Serious Crimes

Kathmandu. Mustakim Miyan, who works in the secretariat of the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Ramji Yadav, has been arrested on charges of serious crimes.  

Mustakim Miyan, 27, originally from Mahadeva Rural Municipality Ward No.-1 Balthi in Saptari, and currently residing in Rajbiraj Municipality Ward No.-3 Pakhril Tole, has been arrested on charges of kidnapping and hostage-taking. He was arrested from Rajbiraj on Monday, SP Gautam KC of Saptari told Ratopati.

Miyan and his group are accused of kidnapping and robbing Raju Kumar Chaudhary on Falgun 14, 2082. On that day, around 8 AM, Mustakim Miyan, along with 3 others on motorcycle number Ba.99 Pa 5775, went to kidnap him.  

The youth from Miyan's group, who arrived on two motorcycles, took him into custody at gunpoint and took him to a deserted open field behind Himalaya Rice Mill in Rajbiraj Municipality-8, where they held him hostage and beat him, according to the victim.

Threatening him, they made him lick the ground, stole his mobile, 2 tolas of gold chain, and cash of 1 lakh 30 thousand, and left him naked, the victim told the police. The other 3 involved in the kidnapping are absconding.

An arrest warrant was issued against Miyan by the Saptari District Court on Baisakh 24. SP KC stated that an investigation is underway after registering a case against Mustakim Miyan and other accused for the offense of kidnapping or hostage-taking and indecent, inhumane treatment.  

Miyan was found to have been appointed to the post of light vehicle driver in the personal secretariat of the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Ramji Yadav, on Chaitra 27, 2082.

Miyan is absconding in two more cases. He was absconding in a case related to electronic offenses and another case of stripping and beating a young man.
