Locals demand action against culprits

Gaur (Rautahat) - The locals here have demonstrated against the death of four girl children drowned in a pit dug for road expansion.

The locals argued that the children drowned in the pit because of the recklessness of Division Road Office, Chandranigahar, and the construction entrepreneurs.

Protesting the incident with demonstration of the dead bodies at a major intersection in Gaur on Sunday, the locals also imposed transportation strike along the east-west highway.

The irate locals however agreed to end the transportation strike after the families of those killed in the incident were ensured Rs 25,000 each for performing funeral rights and action against the culprits. It was assured during a meeting held with the initiative of Superintendent of Police, Yagya Binod Pokhrel. The police have taken under control Pralhad Saha, contractor of the Durga Construction involved in the road expansion.
